Keep Your Eyes Open

No Connection. No Selection.
No Connection. No Promotion.
This is what currently happening.
It's the true nature of our society.
It's a situation that we could never annihilate.
Completely. Holistically.

In order to get a job, we need "cables".
To get higher chance of a promotion, there must be bigger "network".
That's the way, how things are done.
In the competition of getting jobs.
In the hypocrisy world on getting promotions.
Even, in the political world of back-stabbing and two-face nature.
This is happening.
A Social Network is Important, But Sometimes, It can Become a Liability. [source]

But, let's not dwell on the political issues of nepotism and favoritism.
Where it happens a lot, in many parties.
Let's just take much simpler example.
Let's look at the competitiveness of getting a job.
Nowadays, people are having problems of getting a job.
And those, who have "networks" usually, get the job.
And a friend of mine just told me;
"Even someone, whose terrible in the interview, still got the job."
So, what up? What happened?
See, how things are done here.
Everything, most of the time, are based on favoritism.

But, let's not blame them for that.
If we were in their position, I'm sure we won't say a word.
I'm sure we'll be glad and seal our lips shut.
That's just human nature.
When we don't like something, we criticize.
But when it turns to our favor, we say nothing.

And recently, I read this great article on the issue.
Wrote by Ahmad Izham Omar, a CEO of 8TV station.
In his writing, he complained about people who easily gave up.
Gave up, for not being successful in the music industry.
Just because of not having any connections.
So, you see, this is a real situation. And it’s currently happening.
If not solve, someday, it'll become a culture.

He also says, in order to succeed in life, we have to do two things;
1. Get as much education and experience in things we love
2. Keep our eyes open
Always Keep Your Eyes Open to Opportunities. [source]
I'm sure you all understand the first point.
To be successful, of course, we need knowledge and experience.
Be advanced, acquire as many knowledge and skills that we could.

But, how to make all that useful.
This is where it connects to the second point.
Keep Our Eyes Open.
What it means here is that we need to grab all the opportunities.
We need to take every chance that we could have.

The opportunity, sometimes, only comes once in a lifetime.
And this is something, I learned the hard way.
And because of that, jealousy took a part of me.
I was jealous because I didn't get the job.
At first, I thought they were lucky. But the truth is, it's my entire fault.
I didn't take the opportunity. I didn't grab that one and only chance.
So, lucky is nothing to do with being successful.
Without hardworking and struggling.
In the end, it’s all about me.
It's all about whether I keep my eyes open. Or Not.

considering read "The Art of Community"

its not really important to have some short off of cable anyway. as long as you know who you really are, and what you capable of, and how do you value the knowledge more than certificate, you'll success. because once you know yourself, you'll start to believe yourself, and world will widely open upon you. they will realize who you are. its up to you then how to roll the wheel.

today students might be a good student, but they won't necessary will become a productive worker. ask them, why they went into university or shit, let's see how the answer. most of them will say "to get certificate" or "to pass exam and everything".

come on. you won't be student forever. don't look for the easy way. because easy makes education harder.
